Contractors & Do It Yourselfers - Do You Utilize The Services of a Transfer Station?

~ Why Using A Transfer Station Is A Great Idea ~

You’ve rented a dumpster or you rented/own a trailer. Your project is complete. Now you are ready to haul your junk or debris to the landfill. Sounds simple, right? Generally speaking, it really is that simple. But wouldn’t it be better if there was place that you could go that was more local? Or a place just outside the landfill that you could get in and out easier in less time and less wear and tear on your vehicle and trailer? Well there is a solution. These places are called “Transfer Stations”. Most of which are independently operated outside of the garbage dump or recycling facilities.

What Is A Transfer Station?

A transfer station is a building or processing site for the temporary deposition of waste. Transfer stations are often used as places where local waste collection vehicles will deposit their waste cargo prior to loading into larger transport vehicles. These larger vehicles will transport the waste to the end point of disposal in an incinerator, landfill, or hazardous waste facility, or for recycling.

Who Uses A Transfer Station?

Transfer stations are popular among junk haulers, people who are remodeling their home and contractors, but can used by anyone that has a load that they would otherwise be taking to the garbage dump. Using these stations is faster, easier and safer than taking your vehicle to and through the garbage dump. Cost-wise, the transfer stations are comparable to what you'd pay at the dump, and in some instances may be cheaper. In all actuality, the garbage dumps would prefer that you utilize a transfer station. These stations are generally located near your local dump for the convenience of all parties.

Word From The Wise

If you choose to utilize the convenient services of a transfer station, I would recommend giving them a call or checking out their website to make sure whatever you are hauling is going to be accepted. Different stations have different rules, based on the garbage dump(s) that they deliver to.
